S. 609The Prenatally Diagnosed Condition Awareness Act
On March 11, 2005, Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) introduce S. 609, the Prenatally Diagnosed Condition Awareness Act. The bill is intended to increase the provision of scientific information and support services to patients receiving a positive test diagnosis for Down Syndrome or other prenatally diagnosed conditions. Among other provisions, the bill would require the Secretary to “collect, synthesize, and disseminate scientific information relating to Down Syndrome or other prenatally diagnosed conditions” and to establish a clearinghouse of such information. S. 609 has one cosponsor and was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).
