Research Technologies Branch

Robert J. Hohman, Ph.D., Chief

The Research Technologies Branch (RTB) offers investigators specialized support for advanced biotechnology research. RTB provides access to state-of-the-art research technology, scientific expertise, and technical support to enhance the research efforts of all NIAID intramural investigators.

RTB develops and provides state-of-the-art research technology to the intramural research program of NIAID through a network of 10 sections and units. Scientists in RTB also provide training and consulting on all aspects of the technology, including experimental design, laboratory protocols, and analysis of results.

These goals are achieved by RTB through:

  • Developing and providing state-of-the art technology to NIAID intramural researchers
  • Providing technology consultation to NIAID intramural researchers
  • Providing training to NIAID intramural researchers
  • Keeping abreast of new developments
  • Developing new technology and applications
