ALEXANDER'S STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH'S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

WASHINGTON, D.C. —U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, issued the following statement shortly after President George W. Bush's State of the Union Address.

"I thought the President gave an inspiring speech tonight that clearly states the direction he plans to lead the nation toward," Alexander said.

"The speech was bold and articulate. President Bush outlined a strong domestic agenda and also informed us of his foreign policy agenda. The President touched on many issues tonight -- saving Social Security, praising our brave men and women serving in the Armed Services in the War on Terrorism, protecting the sanctity of marriage and improving the economy -- and I look forward to working with other Members of Congress to address these concerns.

But I'm elected by the people of the 5th Congressional District and the state of Louisiana, and fighting for my constituents on Capitol Hill is my number one priority as long as I serve in Congress."
