ALEXANDER, HUNTER TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON FUTURE OF FORT POLK

PRESS CONFERENCE TO BE HELD AT ENGLAND AIR PARK IN ALEXANDRIA, LA.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, and U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-California, will hold a press conference Friday, 11:20 a.m., May 6th, at England Air Park's commercial air terminal facility to discuss Fort Polk and its future.

Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Alexander will both speak on the value of Fort Polk to Louisiana's economy as well as the role that the base has played in world military affairs.

"I appreciate Chairman Hunter taking time out of his schedule to tour Fort Polk with top military officials and me," Alexander said.

"I can't stress enough how important it is for us to continue to protect Fort Polk's future. Fort Polk means so much to Cenla and Louisiana. It is imperative that we showcase Fort Polk and all of its positive attributes to other members of congress. The Louisiana Congressional Delegation stands united in protecting Fort Polk and we are spreading that message on Capitol Hill. I speak on behalf of U.S. Rep. Jim McCrery, R-Shreveport, as well when I say that we will fight to protect Fort Polk's future."

All members of the media are invited to attend the press conference at England Air Park, but press will be restricted from the tour to Fort Polk.

"Fort Port has a great history of training and preparing our soldiers for any mission that they may face," Alexander.

"It will be an honor for us to show Chairman Hunter some of Fort Polk's creative and realistic training methods."
