ALEXANDER, VITTER ANNOUNCE $31,760 GRANT FOR DELHI VOLUNTEER FIRE DISTRICT

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, and U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-Metairie, today announced that the United States Dept. of Agriculture will award a Rural Development grant totaling $31,760 to the Delhi Volunteer Fire District.

The grant will be used toward the purchase of a new fire and rescue vehicle. This vehicle will be utilized to carry rescue, extrication and firefighting equipment to emergency scenes as a first response.

"This grant will help protect the residents living in the City of Delhi and surrounding areas," Alexander said.

"Our firefighters are called on to help save lives, and it is our job as legislators to secure funding for these important projects."

Vitter added, "Our local communities count on firefighters to protect their homes and property. I am pleased that the U.S. Department of Agriculture made this grant available to the Delhi Volunteer Fire Department so they can buy a new fire and rescue vehicle to more efficiently and safely handle emergency situations in the community."
