GENE-TOX

GENE-TOX is a toxicology data file of the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) Toxicology Data Network (TOXNET®). It is created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and contains genetic toxicology (mutagenicity) test data, resulting from expert peer review of the open scientific literature, on over 3,000 chemicals. The GENE-TOX program was established to select assay systems for evaluation, review data in the scientific literature, and recommend proper testing protocols and evaluation procedures for these systems.

Web Access/Searching

GENE-TOX is accessible, free of charge, via TOXNET at: http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov

Users can search by chemical or other name, chemical name fragment, Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number (RN), and/or subject terms. Search results can easily be viewed, printed or downloaded. Search results are displayed in relevancy ranked order.

Users can easily conduct their GENE-TOX search strategy against other databases: Hazardous Substances Data Bank®, Integrated Risk Information System, Chemical Carcinogenesis Research Information System, TOXLINE®, and ChemIDplus®.
