NEI 2003 Summer Student Posters

Natialia Balko spent the summer following her graduation from Stone Ridge Country Day School working in the Laboratory of Retinal Cell and Molecular Biology with Dr. Patricia Becerra. She presented her work in her poster, Degradation of Pigment Epithelium derived Factor (PEDF): Purification of a Protease-free PEDF.
Steve Cole graduate student at George Mason University, worked with Dr. Jack A. Ragheb in the Laboratory of Immunology and presented his research in his poster, Changes in the Predicted Secondary Structure of Interleukin-2 mRNA Associated with Its CD28-mediated Stabilization. Steve Cole

Cynthia Lin (left) is a graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School and spent the summer in Laboratory of Mechanisms of Ocular Diseases with Dr. Sam Zigler working on the research presented in her poster, Distribution of Vitreous Proteins in Six Regions of the Phakic Eye.

Susan Lee (right), Johns Hopkins University student presents her summer’s research in her poster, Ocular Implants Releasing Angiostatic Drugs for Age-related Macular Degeneration. Susan spent the summer in Dr. Michael Robinson’s lab in the Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Research.

Yale University Student, Christina Meyer presented her summer’s research in her poster, A Candidate Receptor for Pigment Epithelium-derived Factor (PEDF): Expression and Purification for Evaluation of Its Binding Properties. Christina spent the summer working in the Laboratory of Retinal Cell and Molecular Biology with Dr. Patricia Becerra.
