Itzhak Perlman
(b. Aug. 31, 1945)
Itzhak Perlman was a child prodigy. He came to New York at the age of 13 and studied violin with the influential American teacher Ivan Galamian. Renowned for his brilliant technique and musicianship, his mentor, Isaac Stern, has called his talent “utterly limitless.” Perlman tours and records extensively. Crippled by polio at the age of 4, he is a strong proponent of equal rights for the disabled.
