Today's moderator is Dr. Joshua Farber, an investigator with the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation of NIAID.
Dr. Farber earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins, and stayed on there to do an internship and residency. He spent two years with NHLBI as a research associate in the Laboratory of Biochemistry. Dr. Farber then returned to Johns Hopkins, spending a number of years first as an instructor in the Department of Medicine, then as an assistant professor with the Division of Infectious Diseases. He returned to NIH in 1993 to take his present position with NIAID.
Dr. Farber's lab has discovered chemokines and chemokine receptors, and
has characterized the physiological functions of these proteins, particularly
in lymphocyte responses. His lab is also studying the role of chemokine
receptors in HIV infection.
