Children's Nutrition The Children's Nutrition Research Center Looking for current research and information on child nutrition? The Children's Nutrition Research Center (CNRC) at the Baylor College of Medicine provides information on the nutrient needs of children from conception through adolescence. The "Consumer News" section of their website (www.bcm.tmc.edu/cnrc/index.htm) offers resources for parents including a quarterly online newsletter, Nutrition and Your Child, an index of frequently asked nutrition questions and answers, and web links for additional resources. The site provides information on current research at CNRC, weekly research seminars, post-doc fellowships, and volunteer opportunities. National Network for Child Care If you work with parents and child care providers, the Cooperative Extension System's National Network for Child Care (NNCC) website (www.nncc.org/Nutrition/nutr.page.html) is an excellent source for up-to-date information on infant and child nutrition. It addresses topics such as breastfeeding, food-related activities, meals, snacks, and food safety. Spanish materials are included. Some documents are available in PDF format for use as educational handouts to parents and child care providers. Also included are news releases in the field of nutrition, related links, and information on distance learning opportunities. s |
