cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitor (SY-kloh-OK-sih-jeh-NASE in-HIH-bih-ter)

 COX-2 inhibitor. A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve pain and inflammation. Cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitors are being studied in the prevention of colon polyps, and as anticancer drugs. Also called COX-2 inhibitor.
