Research Expertise and Interests

  • Innovative techniques to obtain quantitative elemental distributions in biological specimens using electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM)
  • EFTEM imaging with electron tomography to obtain 3-D maps of elements such as P, S, Ca, and Fe in sectioned plastic embedded cell organelles
  • Image processing and tomographic reconstruction techniques
