Olympia, WA -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and State disaster recovery officials announced today that Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Chehalis, Kent, Silverdale, and Tacoma will remain open yet another week through April 6. As previously announced, these DRCs will continue to operate as SBA Disaster Offices after that date except for the Chehalis location which will close on April 6. The DRCs and SBA offices will continue to be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All locations are closed on Sunday.

At the above disaster offices, SBA representatives will continue to provide individuals and business owners with face-to-face assistance with completing their SBA applications, answer questions about SBA's loan program, and show how an SBA disaster loan can help them pay for their disaster losses. Informational materials will continue to be available on FEMA's Hazard Mitigation program.

Low-interest disaster loans from SBA are available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations. Disaster loans from SBA are the primary source of funds for repairing earthquake damage.

Individuals and business owners are encouraged to register for assistance by calling toll-free 1-800-462-9029. Those who are hearing- or speech-impaired may call TTY 1-800-462-7585. "Individuals and businesses have until April 30 to call FEMA's toll-free registration number and apply for assistance," Federal Coordinating Officer Bill Lokey said.

To find out about FEMA assistance programs and the status of their applications, applicants can call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321.

Disaster assistance programs include temporary housing assistance, grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not covered by insurance or other programs, and low-interest loans from SBA for Nisqually Earthquake-damaged residential and business property. Disaster unemployment assistance, tax assistance and other special services are also available to eligible persons affected by the disaster.
