Management Seminar Series Goals

The MSS provides an opportunity for administrative and scientific staff to obtain or further strengthen management skills through discussions and learning experiences addressing core management issues as well as learn more about the NIH and NIH-related matters.

The audience includes professional administrative staff at the GS-5 through GS-12 levels, NIH Management Interns, Presidential Management Fellows, Emerging Leaders, Administrative Fellows and Stride Interns.

The format for the MSS includes lecture, discussion and group exercises. This series runs monthly from January-June. Each MSS will have its own agenda and timeframe. The participants will be enrolled in the MSS Online Community and will be able to print off the agenda and any other paperwork to bring with them to the event. The agenda will address the topic, speaker(s), schedule, and any additional information pertinent to that specific MSS presentation. The content is highly influenced by the NIH Interns and MSS will reflect a unique balance of information on the administration, culture, structure and management challenges of the NIH. Participants will be asked to complete an evaluation at the conclusion of each session.

Each of the six sessions is approximately three hours long, starting at 1:00pm and concluding at 4:00pm.
