Fogarty International Research Collaboration Award (FIRCA)

Please note: e-applications containing foreign subawards must list a DUNS number for the foreign institution. Here is where to get a DUNS number. You will find newly released instructions for foreign institution e-registration at: http://era.nih.gov/ElectronicReceipt/preparing_grantsgov_reg.htm

Purpose

This program provides funds ($150,000 over three years) to foster international research partnerships between NIH-supported scientists and their collaborators in countries of the developing world. The FIRCA program aims to benefit the research interests of both collaborators while increasing research capacity at the foreign site. Scientists who have an eligible NIH grant may apply. All areas of biomedical and behavioral research supported by NIH are eligible FIRCA research topics, except as noted below:

Research related to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) or related illnesses is NOT eligible as a FIRCA topic. Investigators working on topics related to HIV-AIDS and wishing to conduct collaborative research involving developing countries should review the opportunities listed at: http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-TW-03-007.html.

There are two separate, companion FIRCA Program Announcements (PARs).

*IMPORTANT NOTICE:

ALL APPLICATIONS must be submitted by the receipt deadline through http://www.grants.gov. Instructions (including for foreign institution e-registration) can be found at: http://era.nih.gov/ElectronicReceipt/preparing_grantsgov_reg.htm
