Research Interest
Dr. Hennighausen’s research interest revolves around the role of cytokines in the establishment and function of different cell systems.  Historically his lab has focused on the mechansims used by prolactin to control the development and of the mammary gland during pregnancy and lactation.  Having identified that Jak2/Stat5 signaling components are the critical mediators of prolactin and other cytokines, the Hennighausen lab now includes other systems, such as hematopoietic stem cells, in its quest to decipher this multi tasking signaling cascade.
