Mobile Disaster Recovery Center Moves To New Life Ministries

Columbus, MS -- Anyone affected by the recent tornadoes can visit with state, federal, local and voluntary agencies at a mobile Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) Tuesday, November 26, at New Life Ministries at 98 Harrison Road here.
The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Representatives will help explain how to apply for money to pay for repairs, medical expenses or temporary housing, and for Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Loan officers from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) also will be on hand to help applicants. They also will have information on a variety of programs available to those who qualify.
"Visiting a DRC gives people a chance to talk with representative face to face, and get answers to questions they might have," said Federal Coordinating Officer Michael Bolch.
"It's important to call the FEMA toll-free teleregistration number before visiting a DRC," said State Coordinating Officer Leon Shaifer. "Calling that number is the first step in getting the help you need."
In addition to the mobile Disaster Recovery Center, a DRC is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week at the former Lowe's Home Supply at 2320 Highway 45 North in Columbus.
