FEMA's Disaster Information Helpline Now Available

Tupelo, MS -- A disaster information Helpline has been established for those Mississippians affected by the Feb. 16 and 24 tornadoes and violent windstorms who need information about disaster assistance programs or the status of their application for aid.

The toll-free number is 1-800-525-0321. Those with hearing or speech impairment may call the Helpline at 1-800-660-8005.

Representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) are encouraging anyone with questions about disaster assistance recovery programs to call the Helpline between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily including weekends.

For those who have not registered yet, the first step is to call FEMA's toll-free registration number, 1-800-462-9029, or 1-800-462-7585, for the speech or hearing impaired.

A total of 50 Mississippi counties are included in the presidential disaster declaration. Renters, homeowners and business owners in the declared counties may be eligible for assistance.
