Study Design

Information about the National Children’s Study scientific design is available both through the Study’s Research Plan and Study Plan.

The Research Plan, which was released in 2007 as an update to the Study Plan, describes the Study’s background, design, measures, and the rationale for their selection in sufficient detail so that readers can understand the basis of the Study and how it will be carried out. The Study Plan, released in 2005, focuses on several priority health themes: outcomes of pregnancy, child growth and development, injury, asthma, and psychological and emotional health. The Study Plan outlines the measures of exposures and the schedule of data collection for the first few years of the Study.
