Abstract: This article explains the use of an activity diary, in conjunction with a food diary, to teach people about their health behavior. These diaries give people information about the true amount of food they eat and how active or inactive they are. Recording food intake is the main predictor of success in weight loss, and exercise is the main predictor of weight maintenance. The article describes the activity pyramid and how to increase daily physical activity using the guide. In addition, the article includes a sample exercise log for readers to use to track their daily activity.
