Continuing Medical Education

  • The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) identifies, develops, and promotes standards for continuing medical education for physicians. The ACCME and its recognized state medical societies accredit approximately 2,500 providers of continuing medical education.

Research and Training Opportunities

  • The National Institutes of Health offers postbaccalaureate opportunities that provide stipend or salary support for various periods during the training and developmental stages leading to a research career. The programs are divided into two broad categories, extramural and intramural. Extramural programs support training experiences at research institutions, colleges, and universities around the United States. Intramural programs are offered only at the NIH facilities in Bethesda and a small number of facilities located outside of Bethesda.
