The purpose of this notice is to withdraw announcement CDC-RFA-PS06-001.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has withdrawn CDC-RFA-PS-06-001 HIV-Cancer Data Linkage Project. With the announcement of the CDC appropriation for 2006, there have been a number of difficult budget decisions.  Our overall appropriation is decreased compared to FY 2005 -- the first time this has happened in 25 years.  In addition, a 1% rescission was applied to the entire appropriation, which is expected to be applied to all parts of our budget.  Congress and the Administration are committed to a deficit-reduction strategy as competing priorities for federal dollars are weighed. This means that the CDC's budgetis very tight for FY2006 and will be targeted to those research areas that our national leaders view as most critical or urgent.

We thank those who have demonstrated interest in our HIV-Cancer Data Linkage Project and will keep this in mind when developing Requests for Applications (RFAs)for FY 2007 funding.
