ATLANTA, Ga. -- In December 2006 and February 2007, tornadoes and severe storms struck central Florida, causing widespread damage across Lake, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia Counties. The presidentially declared disasters enabled citizens and communities to apply for federal assistance. The Federal Emergency Management Agency reports that nearly $43 million in Individual Assistance, Public Assistance and disaster loans have been invested to date in the State of Florida to support the recovery effort.

$23,995,700.00 The U.S. Small Business Administration approved 269 low-interest disaster loans.
$14,382,686.55 Federal share of Public Assistance funds obligated
$4,522,475.81 Amount of disaster assistance has been approved through the Individuals and Households Program.
