This is the wiki home page of the CDE Browser.
The CDE Browser is your starting point for exploring the contents of the caDSR. This tool supports browsing, searching, and exporting CDEs within or across contexts.
- The Shopping Cart lets you create a customized set of CDEs for exporting.
- The CDE Browser uses this DTD to export/download data elements in XML.
- Form Builder, a separate application beginning with release 4.0, lets you organize CDEs as forms.
You do not need an account to use the CDE Browser. However, Form Builder requires curatorial authority and you must have a caDSR account to use Form Builder. This account may be one assigned for using the Curation Tool and the Administration Tool.

Content types in the caDSR include Forms and Protocols, extensions of the ISO/IEC 11179 standard. Search results for forms include template forms when they are available. Template forms are generic forms that can be used as the basis for creating the actual forms used in a Protocol. Template forms are stored both as a collection of CDEs that comprise the form, and as an MS Word or PDF file that shows the CDEs laid out. An example is the NCI Cooperative Group Registration form attached to this page. You can navigate to this form in the CDE Browser as shown in the attached screen shot. |
