| Chemistry of Triplex Forming Oligonucleotides: The National Institute on Aging (NIA), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a postdoctoral position in The Section on Gene Targeting, Laboratory of Molecular Gerontology. We are developing a gene targeting strategy based on triple helix forming oligonucleotides (TFOs). We have synthesized modified oligonucleotides that bind genomic targets in living cells with high efficiency (Biochemistry, 45: 1970). The oligonucleotides are used to direct gene knock out, recombination, or gene conversion. | |
| A postdoctoral position is available for an individual with training in synthetic organic chemistry and direct experience with nucleoside and oligonucleotide synthesis. The successful candidate will work closely with chemists and molecular biologists on the contribution of sugar and base analogues to TFO bioactivity. Applicants must be interested in working at the interface of chemistry and biology. Interested candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. with less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. | |
