Papers of Nobel Prize Winner Arthur Kornberg Added to Web Site Format: Web Site Institute: National Library of Medicine (NLM) The scientific papers of Arthur Kornberg were recently added NLM’s Profiles in Science Web site. Dr. Kornberg received the Nobel Prize in 1959 for his synthesis of DNA.
He was the first scientist to synthesize DNA outside the body and to synthesize an infective virus DNA. He discovered many related enzymes that were essential for the development of recombinant DNA technology. Dr. Kornberg was still working his laboratory at Stanford University until a few days before his death on October 26, 2007.
With the addition of these papers, the number of prominent researchers, public health officials, and promoters of medical research whose personal and professional records are presented on Profiles has grown to 24.
