Aging and Lifespan Regulation in Drosophila Melanogaster: A Postdoctoral Fellow or Visiting Fellow position is available in March 2009 in the Functional Genomics Unit (FGU) of the Laboratory of Experimental Gerontology at the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore, NIH. FGU is studying molecular and cellular mechanisms of aging and oxidative stress response with a focus on regulation of lifespan extension by dietary restriction using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as the model organism. The projects will employ genetics, genomics including gene profiling, and cell biology including confocal imaging techniques to address fundamental questions on aging.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. with less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Experience in genetics, cell biology, and fruit fly work will be desirable. Applicants should have the ability to work independently and think critically to develop interesting aging-related projects.
To apply send a curriculum vitae, including names of three references to zous@grc.nia.nih.gov.
