H. R. 5835 —The Health Promotion Funding Integrated Research, Synthesis, and Training Act or the Health Promotion FIRST Act

On April 17, 2008, Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) introduced H.R. 5835, the Health Promotion Funding Integrated Research, Synthesis, and Training Act or the Health Promotion FIRST Act. The bill would require OBSSR to develop, and periodically review and as appropriate revise, a plan on how to best develop the basic science of health promotion through the NIH agencies. The bill would also authorize $30 million for FY 2009 to conduct or support early research programs and research training regarding health promotion. H.R. 5835 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
