H. R. 6498 —The Genomics and Personalized Medicine Act of 2008

On July 15, 2008, Representative Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), introduced H.R. 6498, the Genomics and Personalized Medicine Act of 2008, a bill to secure the promise of personalized medicine for all Americans by expanding and accelerating genomics research and initiatives to improve the accuracy of disease diagnosis, increase the safety of drugs, and identify novel treatments, and for other purposes. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. H.R. 6498 is similar to S. 976 introduced by Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) on March 23, 2007.
