Toxicokinetics Faculty

Chair: Dr. Ron Melnick (melnickr@niehs.nih.gov)

The Toxicokinetics Faculty provides advice on the selection, design, and interpretation of studies on the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination of chemicals administered to test animals as part of the National Toxicology Program (NTP) (http://ntp-server.niehs.nih.gov) investigations. The faculty is multidisciplinary and includes pathologists, statisticians, chemists, and biomathematicians in addition to NTP study scientists. This broad base of education and experience allows a critical analysis of existing toxicokinetic data and information needs for the conduct and interpretation of NTP studies. The toxicokinetic information provides a scientific basis for the extrapolation of the relationship between dose and effect in NTP studies to low doses and across species.
