Researchers have developed a new resource for studying and comparing coastal zones around the world. Based on a simple budget model, this international undertaking is the first attempt to provide the uniform data essential in determining the effects of human activity on these areas. Its developers hope it will be a step in improving policies to protect these important and diverse ecosystems.
