Exercise, Nutrition, and HIV/AIDS

It’s that time of year when we start to think about getting in shape for swimsuit season. For people living with HIV/AIDS, staying fit and paying attention to good nutrition play an important role year round. A regular fitness routine and nutrition therapy, in combination with the appropriate antiretroviral treatment regimen, can extend and improve the quality and quantity of life for a person living with HIV/AIDS.

Below are resources on exercise, nutrition, and HIV/AIDS:

n       AIDS Education and Training Center’s Health Care and HIV: Nutritional Guide for Providers and Clients

n       The Nutrition and Exercise page of the National Library of Medicine’s Specialized Information Services (SIS) HIV/AIDS Information Web site

n       The HRSA CareAction publication issue on Nutrition, and

n       The USDA Web site’s Food and Nutrition Center
