AETC Releases an HIV/AIDS Clinician Toolkit

The AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) National Resource Center (NRC) has developed a CD-ROM that contains HIV-related U.S. Federal treatment and prevention guidelines and recommendations, training slide sets, reference materials; clinician support tools, a new curriculum titled Incorporating HIV Prevention into the Medical Care of Persons Living with HIV and patient education information. Triple Combination HIV Pill May Be Available in '06
Researchers showed that a single pill combining Viread, Emtriva, and Sustiva is the equivalent to taking the three drugs separately. Gilead, the manufacturer of Viread and Emtriva, have indicated that they will file for Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of this combination pill in the second quarter of this year. FDA approval of this three-drug combination pill would make it the first HAART regimen available in a once-a-day, one-pill dosage.
