Abstract


At the convergence of human, wildlife, and ecosystem health is a relatively new field that is working to define itself. The emergence of this field comes none too soon, as outbreaks of emerging diseases grab headlines around the world at an ever-increasing pace. Practitioners are advocating a change in direction away from formalizing the concepts and bounds of conservation medicine, as it is called by some, toward finding solutions for the environmental problems that are impacting the health of ecosystems and the species--including humans--living within them.
