Impact of Communication Strategies at Multiple Levels on Dietary Behavior Change (R01)
This general diet and communication conceptual framework is based on a multi-level ecological approach to account for numerous interacting influences on dietary behavior. Relationships between environmental-, social-, and individual-level factors, behaviors, and health outcomes are well documented. However, the mechanisms linking these multi-level factors to each other, as well as to other factors not typically examined, are still being debated. Social and economic structures, socioeconomic position and life course history, are some examples of contextual factors that are not typically examined in diet and communication research, but may be important to consider. This figure helps visualize a general framework for communication strategies conducted across multiple levels with the ultimate goal of positively impacting dietary behavior(s).
