“One should eat to live, not live to eat” – ageless advice from the philosopher Cicero. Unfortunately, many of us did not pass this on to our kids, and the number of overweight children is soaring.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you “Healthy Moments” from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
Kids need a balanced diet and physical activity to grow, build strong bones and muscles, and feel good.
Try these tips to help your child stay healthy:
- Give them breakfast. It provides them energy to learn in school.
- Focus on fun physical activities and limit TV time.
- Involve your child in making lunches. Kids may be more willing to eat food that they help prepare.
And for more tips, visit our website at NIDDK or majic1023.com. This is Dr. Griffin Rodgers. Join me next week for more “Healthy Moments.”
