Current Portfolio/Responsibilities:

As Deputy Division Director:

Supervise a staff of 23 M.D. and Ph.D. program directors and a program analyst.

Develop the operating budget for the division and track all expenditures related to staff

      travel, scientific workshops, office supplies, staff training, and equipment.

Responsible for career development for division scientific staff.

Take a leadership role in development of research priorities within the division and maintain active involvement in the basic science consortia funded through the division.

 

As Co-Director, Office of Obesity Research: 

Develop and manage (with Dr. Sue Yanovski, DDN) a coordinated research agenda in

obesity research funded by the NIDDK, including a set of initiatives aimed at the treatment and prevention of obesity and its co-morbidities.

Oversee the work of 12-15 program directors and coordinate basic science initiatives

      across NIH.

Define long range goals and develop a set of research priorities for obesity research. 

Organize workshops and advisory committee meetings, as well as meetings with professional societies and patient organizations.
