Membrane protein crystallography : NIDDK

Membrane protein crystallography

Closing Date: None

Position Type:

Postdoctoral Fellow

Details:
A postdoctoral position is available to determine the structure of an integral outer membrane transporter by X-ray crystallography (see Nature Structural Biology 6, 56-63, 1999; Journal of Molecular Biology 332, 353-368, 2003). The transporters we study are vaccine and drug targets against pathogenic bacteria; the crystal structures will aid vaccine and/or drug development. Expression, purification, and crystallization protocols are established for similar projects. Candidates will ideally have some experience in membrane protein expression, purification, crystallization and/or structure determination by X-ray crystallography. Good biochemistry skills are essential. We are part of an interactive group of structural biologists sharing common home source X-ray facilities, dedicated access to beamlines at APS, and a common weekly group meeting. Applicants must have a PhD and less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Please send CV, including the names and addresses of three referees, to Susan Buchanan, Laboratory of Molecular Biology, NIDDK, Building 50, Room 4503, 50 South Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892-8030.
