Establishing the pathophysiology of Primary Spinal Syringomyelia

People ages 18-80 with syringomyelia (fluid-filled cavity within the spinal cord) are needed for a study on how a syrinx is formed or grows over time (Protocol 01-N-0085). The study includes MRI, cervical and lumbar spine punctures, and surgery if indicated, and involves a two-week inpatient visit. Evaluation and procedures (including MRI, CT, myelogram and surgery) are provided at no cost to participants. Travel is provided for the participant and one caregiver.
