H.R. 1585 — The Defense Authorization Act

On March 20, 2007, Representative Ike Skelton (D-MO) introduced H.R. 1585, the Defense Authorization Act. The bill would authorize appropriations for Fiscal Year 2008 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes. H.R. 1585 was referred to the House Committee on Armed Services.

FLOOR ACTION

December 12, 2007 - The House agreed to the conference report (H. Rept. 110-477) H.R. 1585 by a vote of 370 – 14.

PRESIDENTIAL ACTION

December 28, 2007 – The President vetoed this bill, but a new bill containing same requirement for NIH become law (H.R. 4986, P.L. 110-181).
