H.R. 1544—The Gestational Diabetes Act of 2007

On March 15, 2007, Representative Eliot Engel (D-NY) introduced H.R. 1544, the Gestational Diabetes Act of 2007. The Senate companion, S. 907, was introduced by Senator Hilary Clinton (D-NY) on the same day. These bills would establish an Advisory Committee on Gestational Diabetes. The bills require the Director of the CDC and the Director of NICHD, in collaboration with NIDDK, to conduct and support basic clinical research regarding gestational diabetes and obesity during pregnancy. H.R. 1544 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
