H.R. 5975—The Prescription Drug Comparativeness Effectiveness Act of 2006

On July 28, 2006, Representative Tom Allen (D-MD) introduced H.R. 5975, the Prescription Drug Comparativeness Effectiveness Act of 2006. The bill would require Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, in consultation with NIH, to conduct research to develop valid scientific evidence regarding comparative clinical effectiveness, outcomes, and appropriateness of prescription drugs, medical devices, and procedures. Representative Allen's bill from the 108th Congress tasked NIH as the lead for conducting such research. H.R. 5975 was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
