The goal of traumatic brain injury (TBI) research at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is to lessen the burden of the injury through the discovery of knowledge. The purpose of this web page is to help achieve this goal by providing information related to TBI research.

Scope of TBI Research at NINDS - NINDS conducts and supports research on TBI to better understand the biological mechanisms of injury, to develop strategies and interventions to limit the primary and secondary brain damage that occur following TBI, and to devise effective treatment strategies to improve long-term recovery of function.
