Additional Positions (Postdoctoral and Fellowships)

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW - INTRAMURAL PROGRAM [5/9/08] The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research in the Cellular Neurophysiology Section, Cellular Neurobiology Research Branch, Intramural Research Program (IRP). Projects will involve molecular and anatomical approaches, as well as mouse models, to define neuronal pathways that may participate in drug addiction. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a closely related subject, with 5 or less years of postdoctoral experience. Knowledge of electron microscope techniques, gained through training and experience, is required. Salary will be set commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The fellowship will become available after November 1st, 2008. Candidates must submit a CV with bibliography and three letters of recommendation (from noncollaborators) to Dr. Marisela Morales, at mmoralesa@intra.nida.nih.gov. Applications must be received by September 30, 2008 Ð late applications will not be considered.

INVESTIGATOR (TENURE-TRACK) [4/21/08] - the Intramural Research Program (IRP), National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is seeking an outstanding tenure-track scientist to develop a neuroscience research program to better understand the role of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), and their interactions in the development and compulsive nature of addiction. Candidates with experience employing an integrative approach to the study of receptor interaction, with the application of molecular, biochemical, and behavioral techniques, are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. degree and have a strong publication record in receptor-receptor interactions and their implications in CNS disorders. In view of the required integrative approach, the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other research groups within NIDA - a proven ability to establish and sustain collaborative work is highly desirable. Candidates must submit a CV, a statement of proposed research objectives and goals (3 pages or less), 4 letters of recommendation (from noncollaborators), and a copy of the doctoral degree (with a certified English translation if in a foreign language) to: Carol Sneeringer, Intramural Program Specialist, NIDA IRP, 251 Bayview Boulevard, Suite 200, Room 04A524, Baltimore, Maryland 21224. Telephone 443-740-2465, FAX 443-740-2865, Email: csneer@intra.nida.nih.gov. Application materials must be received by close of business on June 30, 2008 - late applications will not be considered
