General Instructions
Remember:
Most grant awards are made to the university on behalf of the Principal Investigator (PI). Therefore, the University's office of sponsored research is the organizational entity that is aware of grant application requirements as well as institution-specific procedures related to sponsored research. Alternatively, the Grants Information Office, Office of Extramural Research, can provide forms: 301-435-0714 or grantsinfo@nih.gov

Consultation:
Potential applicants are STRONGLY encouraged to contact the Program Director for the NINR Areas of Science which best fits the applicants work (click above to see Areas of Science and corresponding Program Directors). The PD can answer questions about applications to NINR for research and research training. Generally, an email with one or two paragraphs, including aims, about the project is the best way to start a dialogue with a Program Director. Please include brief information about yourself (at least name, title, institution).

General NIH information on grants policy related to:
  • funding opportunities
  • grants policy and receipt date
  • receipt dates for application
  • the application process
can all be found at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/oer.htm.
