June 8, 2007 marks the 2nd annual National Caribbean-American HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NCAHAAD) - a day dedicated to increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean-American community. HIV infection rates in the Caribbean are the highest in the world outside of Africa and there has been a significant migration of people from the Caribbean to the United States over the last 20 years.
In addition, NCAHAAD is dedicated to mobilizing Caribbean-American and Caribbean-born individuals across the United States to get educated, tested, treated, and involved in their health.
The links included on this page provide information related to NCAHAAD, including HIV/AIDS-related fact sheets and other resources about treatment, prevention, and research for the Caribbean-American population in the United States. Since many Caribbean Americans identify themselves as African American, links for this group have been included as well.
