Are you one of the millions of Americans who has pre-diabetes? If you are, you could lower your risk for type 2 diabetes by just losing some weight.

Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you “Healthy Moments” from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

Pre-diabetes puts you at risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

To find out if you have pre-diabetes, check with your doctor. If you do, there’s good news – you can turn back the clock and prevent or delay type 2 diabetes by making some healthy lifestyle changes.

Losing a modest amount of weight and being physically active 30 minutes a day, five days a week, can help you prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
