Gateway Visitors Center




Description:

The Gateway Visitor Center project consists of three facilities:

  1. Visitor Center (Building 66) providing a secure entrance for processing and orienting visitors to the NIH Bethesda campus (12,325 square feet);
  2. An underground parking garage (MLP-11) for 350 cars (118,334 square feet);
  3. Visitor Automobile Inspection Station (Building 66-A) (8,377 square feet).

Together, these facilities will provide a central location for welcoming visitors, providing parking outside the perimeter fence, and maintaining the NIH campus Metro Station in its present function.  The project is located adjacent to the Metro Plaza at the South Drive entrance to the campus from Rockville Pike (Maryland State Route 355).

Status/Schedule:  Opened August 2008.
