H.R.49—The Eating Disorders Awareness, Prevention, and Education Act of 2005

On January 4, 2005, Representatives Judy Biggert (R-IL) and Ted Strickland (D-OH) introduced H.R. 49, the Eating Disorders Awareness, Prevention, and Education Act of 2005. The bill would require the Secretary of Education, in consultation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Director of NIH, to carry out a program to develop, distribute, and promote broadcasting of public service announcements to improve public awareness and to promote identification and prevention of eating disorders. The bill was referred to the House Committees on Education and the Workforce, and Energy and Commerce.
