H.R.159—The Minority Populations Diabetes Prevention and Control Act of 2005

On January 4, 2005, Representative Juanita Millender-McDonald (D-CA) introduced H.R. 159, the Minority Populations Diabetes Prevention and Control Act of 2005. The bill provides, with respect to diabetes in minority populations, for an increase in the activities carried out by the CDC and the NIH. H.R. 159 provides additional authorization for NIH to implement the recommendations of the Diabetes Working Group at the NIDDK which were submitted to Congress in 2000. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
